Happy Monday!

Thanksgiving was a huge success! I told you guys I would be cooking my first Thanksgiving meal and I was so shocked at how good everything tasted lol! I cooked a hen, dressing, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and sweet potato pie! Whew, it was tedious and I lost count of how many times I called and FaceTimed my mom. She was so sweet and patient with me. She truly helped me make it through a long morning without burning the kitchen down!

Let’s get into this look! My Instagram messages and DMs were on fire about this top. It is from one of my fav new boutiques, Rekonstrukted. I have posted some pieces from them before. Rekonstrukted is Bomb y’all! They have a lot of fresh looks for a good price. You should definitely check them out!

I really like the long train at the back and the puff sleeve on this top. It also comes in black. Head over to the site. They only have a few more left!

Thankful!

It’s almost Turkey Day! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Not only because of the food but because it is the holiday to give thanks and have gratitude. Today I read something that put a leap in my spirit. The quote read

” to speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven”

Wow! It’s so easy to get caught up in your own struggles, hurtles, mountains, etc that you forget to truly be grateful for all of the small things, the small victories, the things that are going right, the things that you already have. I want to try to live more in gratitude and be mindful of God’s many and continued blessings, big and small! I feel that gratitude truly prepares you and helps you to make room for the great things to come!

I am also excited for Thanksgiving because this year I am cooking! That’s right folks! I am not traveling home this year and I’m at but sad that I won’t see my family but I decided to be cheerful by trying to prepare some of my favorite dishes. My mom is sending me recipes and she knows to be on FaceTime stand by in case I need extra consulting. Anyone who knows me, knows that cooking is not one of my favorite things to do, but I do want to get my skills up. If I can hold it down on Thanksgiving, I’m ready to take on any recipe…Y’all keep me and my kitchen lifted! Haha!

This jumpsuit was right on time! It’s colors are so beautiful and the leaves gives me all the Fall vibes. I like the super wide legs and the pleas for added texture. This is a great look for this holiday! Fashionable and comfortable!

Wild Thang!

Hello! I hope everyone is having a great week so far. My birthday weekend was a total success, but I am still trying to recuperate! Today I am here to answer a question that I get most often. “Where did you get your outfit?!”

This mixed animal print skirt is from Boohoo. The high split is sexy and fun! Skirts are a statement separate in every wardrobe, so this season have fun with your hemline. You can use minis, midis, and maxis to flirt with your skirt in any day or evening look.

This V back, cropped sweater is also from Boohoo. It is the perfect new season knitwear that is both cozy and cool. The sweater is so comfortable and I love to wear it slightly off my shoulders. You can also go up a size or 2 for a more baggy and slouched look.

My booties are black suede with a leopard chunky heel. I could walk in them for days because the have good support and are super comfy. I love the dainty circle zipper going up the back. These boots are your day to night best friend, keeping you a stylish step ahead of the crowd. They can also be found on the Boohoo site.

My fedora hat is from Boohoo, mixed print earrings are from Forever 21, sunnies from Quay Australia, and the black beaded wrist bag is from Urban outfitters.

Comment below and let me know what you think about this look and how you like rocking your skirts!

Go Sadé, It’s Ya Birthday!

31

Happy Birthday to Me!! Today is my 31st Birthday and I am super excited about this new year of life. I am truly blessed to be alive and among the land of the living! 30 flew by so fast and 31 is finally here. Ya girl is aging like fine wine! I use to feel some type of way about getting older but, now I get excited for a new year to take by the reigns and live it out fabulously.

Birthday Love

I absolutely love birthdays! I believe that everyone should feel exceptionally special on their day! And I feel just that! My family and friends have showered me with so much love and well wishes. I just don’t know what to do with myself!

Reflections

As, I reflect on my 30th year of life, I have to say that I have learned so much about myself and I am truly proud of the growth that has taken place. I have definitely stepped out of my comfort zone more than ever and it has felt so amazing! I can’t say this year has been full of highs but when the bumps in the road came, I was able to push through in the midst of it all. I can say that I have learned to handle trials and moments that simply do not feel good much better than the younger version of myself. So, all thanks to God for evolving me into a stronger and more mature woman.

Highlights From Year 30

Highlights from my 30th year include starting my blog! This has been such a special project for me to be able to share and hopefully inspire you guys. Style, fashion and being able to be creative are a few things I enjoy and that make me feel happy and free. I reflect on where I started and the transformation over this year and I’m happy with what I have created. I have some new projects coming up for this next year so I hope you guys stay tuned!

Also, I traveled to Greece –twice this year! It was simply breathtaking both times. Being able to see a different side of the world and take in its beauty was all a reminder to me of how truly amazing God is to create such a captivating world. I tried new foods and y’all know I’m pretty picky and particular when it comes to food/sauces and such lol. I also, learned the mythology of the Greek history which was very interesting and made my childhood history class lessons make a bit more sense. Hahaa!

I also took time to focus on myself more and do more things that made me happy. I am a whole nurse and I couldn’t tell you the last time I made sure my own health was in tact. So loving on myself and self care was a major highlight and vibe for my 30th year.

Again, I am excited to see what year 31 has in store for me! I am already claiming a year full of prosperity, elevation, promotion, happiness , joy, love, peace, laughter and new beginnings. Goodbye 30, Hello 31!!

All Eyez On Me

Hey guys! Today I want to come all the way thru with a few tips on styling a suit with sneakers!! Back in the day suits were mainly worn as a professional look for the office or for Sunday morning church attire. Now, suits have become more fun and flexible. They are not only being worn with cute heels or flats, but with dope sneakers.

This head turning trend has become a musthave wardrobe staple. It’s super edgy and gives off chill vibes. So grab a pen and paper to take notes!

Tip #1: Choose a Bomb Suit!

When choosing your suit you want to be sure it is a good fit. Whether it’s a fitted or baggy suit, it should compliment your figure and shape. As I said earlier, this look gives chill and relaxed vibes. While this is a casual combo, it also serves an edgy and sharp look.

Tip #2: Choose Dope Sneakers

What type of sneaker should you rock with your suit? I’m glad you asked! It depends on the type of suit. If you are wearing a pant suit that has a narrow or cropped leg, your options are wide. You could do low, mid or high top. If you are going with a long wide leg pant suit, then low top would be the best option. If you are rocking a shorts or skirt set, you can get away with any type sneakers, low top, mid top or high top.

In this look, I’ve used mid top Nike Huaraches. They are one of my absolute favs! I also like Converse and Air Max.

Tip #3: Accessorize!!

I am a sucker for unique accessories. I feel that a fun accessory really sets off the suit and sneaker duo. Whether you have a fly graphic tee, fun blouse, pocket square, hat, bag, or cool jewelry, either can complete this look and give it even more style and energy!

I chose to use a budding, gold and pearl earpiece and black beaded hand bag as my wow factors for this look. And who doesn’t love 2 Pac?! The 2 Pac graphic tee is simply another fun element to style up this suit.

I am confident that following these tips will have you slaying the edgy suit and sneaker look! All Eyez on You!!

Hello Fall

Fall has arrived and I am super excited about it. Fall is my favorite season and here are a few reasons why!

Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

The Starbucks in my office’s building knows my order to the T because I have ordered a tall pumpkin spice latte with almond milk, half the pumpkin spice pumps and no whip EVERYDAY since it was added to the seasonal menu!

Shopping for Fall Clothes

I enjoy shopping for new pieces for fall weather. Oversized sweaters, pea coats, cardigans, fedora hats, hoodies — all warm and cuddly.

Dark Nail Polish

My go to fall nail colors are maroon, cocoa and a smoky teal. This year I want to throw black and olive into the mix. We shall see.

Layers!

Layering up is so cozy and gives me all the feels. A nice hoodie with a blazer or button down over a tee shirt with a denim jacket. Yesss! I can’t wait! Layering is a warm fall trend that serves the perfect fall flava.

Boots!!

I love boots! They come in so many different styles, lengths, fabrics, colors, and shapes. There is literally a pair that fits anyone’s style. My favorite type of boots are the booties or ankle boots. I like them with stiletto or chunky heels. I decided that this year I’m going to add more knee length boots to my collection!

Vamp Lipsticks

I have to admit that I am here for the vampy lip colors in the fall. I normally go for the purple/dark maroon, bronze-y, or chocolate color lippies. I wear a lot of NYX, Nars, and Coloured Raine brands. They have such rich hues.

Good Hair Weather

My hair is natural and it tends to do better in the fall months because it is not as humid and hot. Fall is when I will wear my natural hair for a bit and try out styles that normally are a hassle at other times of the year due to climate.

Leaves Changing Color

I think it is such a beautiful sight to see the leaves go from green to red, orange and yellow. The colors of the leaves as they fall to the ground are mesmerizing. I love watching as the crisp air flows through the trees and seeing the orange hues of the leave as the sun sets. It’s truly the most stunning sight.

Scarves

There’s no cold weather accessory better than a warm, cozy and versatile scarf! You have your oversized scarves that maximize warmth, scarves with prints like plaid that give a classic flare, fluffy sweater scarves — so many options! A good scarf adds a new element to your outerwear looks.

Mood 4 Eva

Hi guys!! Happy Friday Eve!! I’m feeling really great and looking forward to the weekend. I hope you all are as well!

Today I wanted to to fill you in on one of my new favorite boutiques. Rekonstructed! They have the most gorgeous and chic pieces in their collection. They offer a variety of styles, making it easy to add some flava to your wardrobe. This boutique was created specifically for those who dare to stand out on purpose!

I was attending a women’s conference when I spotted this hot, new vendor. I immediately stopped and started shopping through their different looks. One of my favorite pieces was this plunging neckline set. Not only is it vibrant and sassy but it’s a WHOLE MOOD! I loved the mixed floral patterns and lace overlays. It is light weight and very good quality. This is the kind of look that definitely stands out!

I paired this set with a woven, wrist bag and red, strappy sandals. This duo is definitely giving me boho vibes! Perfect for tropical vacays, brunching, or a HOTT dinner date!!

It was an absolute pleasure to meet the owner, Nysha Ardoin. She is gorgeous, stylish, and has such a sweet spirit! She shared with me that she had just opened Rekonstrukted in May and was hitting the ground running! She also offers custom designs if you have a unique vision for a special piece. 10 Things You May Not Know About Me

Hey guys!! And Happy Friday!! Today I thought I would do something a little bit different. In an effort to be more open, I have decided to share 10 random facts about myself so that you can get to know me better outside of style and fashion. So here we go!

1. I am afraid of scary movies. It’s so bad to the point that I will change the channel when a commercial or trailer is playing for a scary movie. I think my phobia began in middle school when I first saw Poltergeist. Ahhhhhhh! Omg! Yea, no scary thriller movies for me!

2. I am a Hopeless Romantic!! I believe that love is an amazing and beautiful experience that will come at the right time. I truly hold sentimental values on love, in-spite of my experiences. Life is love!

3. I was born and raised in a college town, Tuscaloosa, AL. I graduated from the University of Alabama. Rolllllll Tide Roll! But here’s the kicker! I’ve only been to one Alabama football game! Isn’t that crazy?! To have grown up in the town and gone to the school and only one game!…Don’t get me wrong, I love Alabama football but I prefer cheering on my team at watch parties and tailgates.

4. I was a serial extracurricular participator as a child. I took dance, gymnastics, baton, piano, choir, member of a girl’s community organization, Jack and Jill, Debutant, a variety of school clubs— you name it!

5. I don’t eat condiments! I like plain burgers and hotdogs. No ketchup, mustard, mayo, ranch, sour cream or tartar sauce for me. If it is mistakenly put on something I order, I absolutely HAVE to send it back. As I’ve gotten older I will eat some sauces, like BBQ, teriyaki and hot sauce from time to time.

6. I am the youngest of all my siblings. I have 1 brother, 1 sister and 2 half brothers. I love them all dearly!

7. I love to work out. I was always active as a kid and in college but then the metabolism started to slow down as I grew older. I moved to Houston and decided to start my fitness journey about 4 years ago with Reggie C Fitness. It is an amazing all women’s gym. We have a close knit community that pushes and cheers each other on along the way!

8. I competed in 2 NPC Bikini Fitness shows. The prep experience was like no other but totally worth it. Being on stage and showcasing my hard work was so liberating! My first show I placed 1st in Open for my class. My second show I placed 1st in Novice and 2nd in Open for my class. I am nationally qualified, which is a huge deal in the NPC world. I’m currently debating with myself on when my next competition will be. Competing takes so much focus, discipline, energy, and time. You have to be fully committed and mentally prepared so I’ll keep you guys posted.

9. I LOVE brunching! I have an on going list of the hottest brunch spots in Houston and it just keeps getting longer! I love to get dressed and dolled up to meet my girlfriends and catch up on the latest over brunch. It’s a WHOLE mood. Hahaa! A good Boozy brunch is a highlight to any weekend.

10. I love doing makeovers, whether it’s inside or out! I enjoy helping people to feel confident, see their true beauty and be comfortable in their own skin. A lot of times people just need a boost whether it’s a new look or positive and encouraging words.

Flower Bomb

Summer is not over yet! Flowers are blooming everywhere, including in fashion. I must admit that floral prints have been one of my favorite go-tos for my summer looks. Why?!

  • They give off a nice feminine flare for the season.
  • The fun print has many bright and intriguing colors.
  • They’re a piece of fashion that can work for everyone, no matter your style, because of its variety of textures, sizes, and designs.
  • They are the perfect blend of soft and delicate, yet they can be worn as a bold and confident statement piece.

So of course I had to share with you guys one of my recent steals from Boohoo. I just HAD to have this floral jumpsuit! I love it’s flowing bell sleeves. The cut outs and lace up back is super flirty. I wore clear, open toe shoes and dainty red woven earrings to accessorize my look.

Let’s be honest, floral prints are a classic and one of fashions iconic, ongoing love affairs. They aren’t going anywhere, so if you haven’t already get into the floral trend!
